Good morning folks. With everyone seemingly so happy that Tiger Woods won his first tournament in five years yesterday, I could ponder what it is about this country that makes us love seeing people strive to succeed; take perverse pleasure in seeing people fall once they succeed; and ultimately take pride in watching them succeed yet again. But, alas, this is not why you read my blog.Instead, you read my blog to help get a heads up on some of the issues that are either confronting your credit union or might be in the near future. Overdraft opt-in litigation certainly falls into this category, but I am not sure exactly why. Here’s why I am confused:First, no one disputes that members have to affirmatively opt in to receive overdraft protections on their debit card transactions. Second, no one disputes that for purposes of calculating a person’s balance there are two common approaches a financial institution can use. First, they can calculate based on all the funds in a person’s account when a debit transaction is made. This is called a ledger balance. Or, they can calculate using an available funds method, which subtracts from a member’s account funds, which include payments that have not yet been drawn but are committed, such as account holds placed by hotels for incidental uses. continue reading » ShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr
LOS ANGELES — The Clippers roused Milos Teodosic early Saturday morning and he worked out for 45 minutes. They planned to work him out again Sunday and if that goes well then it’s anticipated that he could play Monday against the Toronto Raptors for the first time since suffering a plantar fascia injury to his left foot Oct. 21.Teodosic “looked great” during the Clippers’ full-contact practice on Friday, Coach Doc Rivers said. Teodosic sat out Saturday for the 22nd and perhaps final time. He will follow Gallinari (strained left glute) back to the starting lineup once he’s sound enough to play.Blake Griffin is expected to be sidelined for up to two months because of a sprained left knee suffered during the closing minutes of the Clippers’ Nov. 27 victory over the Lakers. Patrick Beverley is out for the rest of the season after undergoing right knee surgery Nov. 22.The Clippers played three games without four of their five opening-night starters before Gallinari returned to the starting lineup for their loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. Teodosic’s return would cut the number down to two missing starters. “I was trying to be more aggressive and I was a little more effective than the first game.” “Doc has done a great job,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks said. “It’s amazing you can lose four out of five starters and still be demanding of your team to play hard, and that’s what he’s done. That’s not easy. No coach in the league can win with four starters out. But they’re competitive every night.“They’re competitive and you have to give Doc and the staff a lot of credit.”GALLINARI REBOUNDSDanilo Gallinari had a nightmarish return to the Clippers’ starting lineup on Wednesday after a 13-game layoff because of a strained left glute. He missed 11 of 13 shots and scored only seven points with four rebounds in their loss to the Timberwolves and then vowed to be better.Gallinari delivered as promised Saturday, scoring 25 points on 8-for-19 shooting and taking three rebounds in 36 minutes in the Clippers’ victory over the Wizards. He missed his first four shots and then hit his next four en route to 16 points on 5-for-10 shooting in the first half.“I was ready to play the whole game,” he said when asked if he had a minutes restriction Saturday, as he had against Minnesota, when he played only 25:58. “I think that was something the trainers and Doc talked about in my first game back. When Doc asked me I told him I was ready to go. Newsroom GuidelinesNews TipsContact UsReport an Error
